Established in 2008, as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit. Furever Friends Animal Rescue is unique in that we are a medical based rescue operating in Leland (BrunswickCounty) North Carolina. There are a few ways in which our rescues "find us". Usually via animal services, owner relinquish or discovered abandoned; all of which are a sad and stressful time for these animals.
FFAR financially provides all medical, surgical and rehabilitative care. We also spay/neuter, microchip, foster, love, kiss and cuddle them and prepare them for their second chance, ultimately finding them their well deserved forever homes! We hope that you take the time to review this website, check us out on Facebook and help spread the word about what we do and who we help. Please remember to think of us when you or someone you know is looking for a loving, furry family member.
We are all volunteers here and rely 100% on donations, grants and adoption fees to carry out our mission. So please, if you can, make a donation and volunteer, foster, become a member and attend our fundraisers. Please keep us in mind by donating in lieu of traditional gift giving when your are honoring, celebrating or gifting!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

MEET THE TEAM
I own and operate Colby Roofing & Sheet Metal Company along with my husband, Brett. A native of New Hampshire, I originally moved to Wilmington in 1999 seeking warmer weather. At that time I continued my career in financial services, serving as a Private Financial Advisor with Wachovia, then moving on to be Vice President, Commercial Lending with Carolina First Bank. I left banking in 2006 after having my first child. I am now the proud mom of three. I have always had a great love of animals, and previously served as a member of the New Hanover County Animal Control Advisory board and Founder of The Norman P. Wiggle Home for Wayward Dogs. I have a particular fondness, and am an advocate for, Pit Bulls. We presently share our home with three rescued Pit Bulls, Wicket, Stout, and Barkley. In my spare time I enjoy riding Dressage Horses. I am excited about the opportunity to assist in the care and rescue of animals through Furever Friends.
I am a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. I am originally from Merrimack NH. I moved to Wilmington in 1996 to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I have been fortunate to work in the financial industry and help New Hanover and Brunswick County families and business owners with their financial needs.
FFAR brought the love of my life to me a few years back. Stella an English bulldog was abandoned and desperately needed 2 eye surgeries. FFAR was able through Capeside Animal hospital was able to facilitate these surgeries and repair her eyesight. I am forever indebted to FFAR.
I am a retired business owner, founding member of FFAR and have been the Foster and Adoption Director since 2011.
My life-long passion for animals and advocacy for their well-being have been the driving force behind my involvement with FFAR and many other animal related ventures and activities over the years.
I was previously a member of the Wilmington Dog Park Advisory Committee, Board member of Carolina Canines for Service and Paw’s Place Dog Rescue. I assisted in rescue efforts following Hurricane Katrina with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi and Carolina Canines in North Carolina.
I am proud to be a volunteer with FFAR and thankful for the generosity and kindness of others who help support our efforts. My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog thinks I am. J
My name is April McAllister and I am the Adoption Coordinator. We have 3 dogs, 3 cats and 5 chickens of which 4 were FFAR animals. I have been a volunteer for several years and in 2016 decided to step up my involvement and work with families interested in adopting with FFAR. My past involvement has been fostering many dogs, rabies clinic, fund raisers, adoption fairs and walking recovering animals. I love the commitment of FFAR to help and heal animals with medical needs. My goal as well as FFAR is to find the perfect furever home for all that need a special family.
My name is Kelly Gorman and I have been an animal lover all of my life. From the day I was born, I have always had a dog as one of my best friends. At the age of two, I started horseback riding and to this day horses still hold a special place in my heart. Currently at home I have what I lovingly refer to as “The Zoo”. My loves include two rescued Beagles (Sadie and Bella – they are sisters and have never been apart), three rescued cats (Charlotte, Savannah and Charleston) and a 10 gallon fish tank with a Beta and a Corydora (yes, I’ve even named them too; Baby boy and Spots). I’ve always been a firm believer in Animal rescues, mainly because animals are full of unconditional love and only we can give them a voice to help them through tough times and place them in loving homes.
I am a retired vaccine and pharmaceutical rep of 24 years from New York and Medical Lab Technologist for 15 years.
I moved to NC in 2006 for a warmer and laid back retirement. I had no idea I would get involved with FFAR to fulfill my passion and love for helping animals.
I have been past Treasurer for five years, on the Finance committee for 2 years and now back serving as Treasurer.
I am so proud to be a part of this organization helping with volunteering, fundraising, fostering (resulting in numerous foster failures), transporting, and supplying blankets for the pets that are adopted and whatever needs attention.
So many animals would have suffered without FFAR who now have loving and forever homes.
